Not just necessity, even water with seven other elements are the eight elements of life material, namely; earth, water, fire, air, ether, mind, bhudi, and ego. Thales, Ancient Greek thinker says, water is the essence of everything. The Balinese believe, water inherits the properties of Vishnu, the god of the organizers of life. With this belief along with the functions of Brahma and Rudra, the God of Pangada and the purpose of life or Tri Murti, the water-life of the Balinese flows along tradition. Tri Murti is believed to be a manifestation of Shiva Bhatara and offerings to God is not perfect without water. Water is also believed to have supernatural-mystical powers. That is how the Balinese receive and appreciate the water and they see and care for the world-life. The world is oriented towards holiness and more projected on life here and now.
