Every night before New Year's Eve, in my city there were trumpet sellers on the sidewalks. Once a year these trumpet sellers seek profit. And indeed every new year's eve celebration is always crowded with the sound of trumpets. But do you know about the origin of the trumpeting tradition? Blowing these horns was originally a way of ancient people to drive out demons. The Jews used to do that as a ritual activity that is interpreted as a picture when God destroys the world. They performed the ritual of blowing this trumpet during the celebration of the Jewish New Year. And what about in China? In China, the sound of a horn trumpet is usually incomplete if it is not followed by firecrackers and fireworks. As sounding trumpets, this tradition is a ritual to cast out demons within the Chinese tradition. In addition, firecrackers are also believed to bring good luck. Today the whole world has welcomed the turn of the year. Like other countries in the world, people in Indonesia too. If in some Asian countries, such as Japan, Korea, and China, people spend New Year's Eve by visiting places of worship to pray. So in Indonesia, blowing trumpets has become a tradition of society when welcoming the turn of the year.
